For its contests, Black Warrior Review is accepting free submissions from Black and Indigenous writers until September 2, 2021. They want a packet of three poems or a short story or an essay of up to 7,000 words.
The 2021 Lambda Award for Gay Poetry winner Eduardo C. Corral is the guest judge for poetry. Author of Bestiary K-Ming Chang is the guest judge for fiction. The nonfiction guest judge is the poet and essayist Su Cho. The Nigerian writer J.K. Chukwu will guest-judge flash fiction.
The winner in each category receives $1,000 and publication in BWR 48.2, Spring 2022 issue. A runner-up will also be compensated, and all submissions will be considered for general publication.
