Earlier this year, Roxane Gay Books acquired the debut novel of the Nigerian writer Ani Kayode Somtochukwu.
Founded by the writer Roxane Gay, the Grove Atlantic imprint publishes three books a year.
The press is currently accepting manuscripts from both agented and unagented writers. It is seeking “beautifully written,” “compelling” novels, short fiction, memoirs, essay collections, and nonfiction that “challenge, delight, and entertain readers.”
There is no submission fee.
The imprint’s newsletter, The Audacity, is also seeking nonfiction for its Emerging Writers series. Contributors will receive $2,000 for essays between 1,500 and 3,000 words.
