The Board of Trustees and Management of the Society of Book and Magazine Editors of Nigeria (SBMEN) are proud to announce the upcoming writing and criticism workshop themed: Creative Writing and Criticism. It is a two-weekend virtual training scheduled for 10 – 18 November 2023.
The aim of the workshop is to help participants understand the importance of storytelling and criticism, to make their work unique. According to the Executive Director, Anwuli Ojogwu, “The course will help participants learn how to develop ideas, solid writing techniques and nurture their voice through practice during the workshop.” The course requires a combination of creativity, critical, and technical skills.
Budding and emerging writers, editors, critics, journalists in the culture space, and content creators looking to improve their writing skills will benefit greatly from this course as well as established professionals who want to improve or refresh their existing skills. The course will be delivered through discussions, group work, class exercises, reading assignments, and case studies. Lessons will be based on non-fiction texts only.
The training sessions will be facilitated by experienced and acclaimed writers and editors from across Nigeria.
